HDT is governed by the board of trustees whose power is derived from the constitutions section 7.2.1 and 8.2. These sections state that the board of the trustees shall be the principal supervisor of the Trust. Chaired by Ms. Christine Mwanukuzi-Kwayu, the current board is composed of seven members whose brief profile is presented below:

Ms. Christine Mwanukuzi- Kwayu - Chairperson of the board
Mrs. Kwayu is currently the national programme officer responsible for gender and HIV and AIDS with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Tanzania. She has worked with local and International Organizations with task ranging from training, advocacy, SMEs, human rights and natural resources.

Dr. P.S. Bujari - Secretary to the board & Executive director
Dr. Bujari is a medical doctor with specialist in public health and Business Administration. He joined the organization in February 2006 as he moved from Oxfam where he was managing HIV portfolio.  Providing leadership, Dr. Bujari has transformed the organization with expansion from two staff by end of 2005 to ten staff in a span of one year. Both the program and size of the organization has grown.

Mr. Reginald Miruko - Member
Mr. Reginald is a journalist holder of a degree in Mass communication and other short courses in related field. Working currently as news editor for Mwananchi communication, he has over ten years of work experience as journalist.

Ms. Feddy Mwanga - Member
Ms. Mwanga a medical anthropologist who currently working as national program officer with WHO on HIV/AIDS community care. She has a diverse work experience both in clinical and non clinical work. Her experience and expertise ranges from training in colleges to more challenging development work related to health and management.

Ms. Halima Shariff
Ms. Halima holds a masters degree of Carleton University- Ottawa Canada in jounalism. She has over 25 years experience in international and national print media with proven capability HIV programming, joint planning, and coordination. She is effective communicator and recognized ability to network and influence national and internationally as advocate for marginalized communities. Ms. Halima now works as free lance consultant, after successfully leading HPI program in Tanzania.


Dr. Millembe Panya - Member and co-founder
Paediatric medical specialist  with particular in dermatological conditions of children with AIDS. She has a particular interest in advocating for community child health as well as their rights.
