OUR SUCCESS: Key Facts in Policy Advocacy

HDT experience and capacity in policy advocacy has been enriched and our networking has increased.  

Our outstanding results in this program include:

  1. Supporting decision makers to understand the significance of thematic allocation on HIV funds and to influence the allocation as well as judicial use of the money through HIV budget analysis and results dissemination
  2. Enhanced understanding of the impact of macro policies on sectoral budget and education of non state actors on the same.
  3. 100 youth were trained as ToT on youth policy, and governance and 34 youth groups were formed for this advocacy
  4. Led the CSO forum for HIV and health was establishment, hosted by HDT and now graduated into independent secretariat with its strategic plan and website.
  5. Influenced the mainstreaming of HIV in MKUKUTA to mainstream HIV as well as influencing the focus of NMSF

OUR SUCCESS: Key Facts in Capacity Building

This program has expanded from one off training started in 2005 into systematic and focused interventions ranging from capacity assessment, training, mentoring, granting and verifying use of knowledge, skills and financing. Some of mentoring organizations did not require capacity assessment because they were based on HIV work place program.

  1. 76 organizations were assessed through HDT organizational capacity assessment methods
  2. 94 organizations trained on Organizational design and development, project management and programming and quality service delivery.
  3. 31 organizations received grants
  4. 80 organizations are currently in the mentoring loop for organization development
  5. 209 people trained on organization development, advocacy and networking and technical skills on management of HIV and AIDS programs.  
  6. 8 regions involved in the capacity building of CSO (Mtwara, Kagera, Dar es Salaam, Mbeya, Botswana-Gaborone, Kilimanjaro, Dodoma and Iringa
  7. 5 Umbrella organizations were given Organization Development Training on how to strengthen their capacities on coordination, resource mobilization, advocacy and communication and M &E for HIV and AIDS programs (ZAPHA +, ZIADA, ABCZ, UWAKUZA and ZANGOC) under Zanzibar AIDS Commission (ZAC)
  8. 2 Program Evaluation done: Sexual Reproductive Health Services Project of Marie Stopes in 14 Districts in Tanzania.
  9. Conducted Situational analysis and design of M&E framework for HIV/AIDS Workplace program for Immigration department, Ministry of Home affairs.  
  10. Developed the Baseline survey (KABP) among the Tanzania Police Force under Marie Stopes Tanzania




OUR SUCCESS: Key Facts in Service Delivery

In the last five years, community development worked to support most vulnerable children though care families, school and out of school reproductive health and HIV project. The other project is community based HIV prevention, care and stigma reduction. The chart below summarizes cumulative results per project in community development. 

 

  1. 6,692 community members engaged in theater for development
  2. 310 peer educators were trained
  3. 3,110 pupils were reached through the peer educators
  4. 357 Vulnerable Children are being supported
  5. 312 PLHIV received nutrition support and support groups
  6. 104 people voluntarily tested for HIV after the theater shows about anti-stigma and discrimination
  7. 99 Care Families for MVC are currently supported by HDT
